This guitar has a tight grained Englemann Spruce top with wonderful medullary rays which is sign of a great choice of tonewood. This combines well with a nice quarter sawn solid East Indian Rosewood for the back and sides. The fingerboard is a mostly dark grained African Ebony that’s now very seldomly found on affordably priced guitars. The bridge is made from Java Ebony and French Polished. Also noticeable is a nice even patina on the Spruce top.
Engelamann Spruce has a mature tone, with a bit more slightly richer midrange than Sitka, which makes a guitar sound a bit older. Old growth Engelmann trees with tighly grained quarter sawn is getting harder to find these days. With age and regular playing this guitar is definitely open up and developed that nice warm sprucy tone.
East Indian rosewood has a reverberant bass response with warmth and a good amount of sustain. Its high-end has a nice spakle with beautiful articulation. The midrange frequencies are considered “scooped,” making them less apparent than other tonewoods, which contributes to the cleanliness of the low and top-end.
The geometric rosette matches the purfling lines on the soundboard and adds to the aesthetics of the guitar.
The guitar also offers a 12-hole tie block providing a good break angle for the stings from the saddle to bridge.
