The Martinez Guitar Company is currently the world’s largest manufacturer of handmade classical guitars. The company led by Managing Director Alex Wang has worked closely with European Designers and Builders since the company was first founded in 1978.
Martinez J. Godoy is inspired from the most famous French guitar maker of the last four decades Daniel Friederich. He followed on in the tradition of French guitars makers started by Robert Bouchet. Friederich guitars are now played all over the world by many of the best professional guitarists. The J Godoy series of guitars made by Martinez are some of their finest and with careful detail to craftsmanship.
The design and bracing on this guitar are on the similar lines of Daniel Friederich with master grade Engelmann Spruce (tight grain) and Madagascar Rosewood for the back and sides. Madagascar rosewood is a premium tonewood that is tonally is considered close to Brazilian rosewood, with articulate highs, deep lows and a wide dynamic range, and rewarding players with long rich sustain, liveiness, and complex overtones. It has a rich red-brown colour with the classic spider webbing found in Brazilian. Tonally, it combines deep lows and rich highs with strong mid-ranges to rival the best of Brazilian.
The guitar has a modern feature of an elevated fretboard, which gives it a louder sound projection and makes it easier to reach the higher notes on the fingerboard.Fret
