The Martinez Guitar Company is currently the world’s largest manufacturer of handmade classical guitars. The company led by Managing Director Alex Wang has worked closely with European Designers and Builders since the company was first founded in 1978.
Martinez J. Godoy is inspired from the most famous French guitar maker of the last four decades – he followed on in the tradition of French guitars makers started by Robert Bouchet. Friederich guitars are now played all over the world by many of the best professional guitarists. This particular guitar is a step up compared to Martinez D/F 69 line up.
The design and bracing on this guitar are on the similar lines of Daniel Friederich with master grade Engelmann Spruce (tight grain) and quarter sawn Indian Rosewood back and side. The guitar has an elevated fretboard that enables to easily reach the notes in the higher register. The playability of this guitar is nice and fast. Over time once the wood resins crystalise the sound will mature and refine.
The guitar produces great clarity, overtones and bass response with complexity of the timbre, the richness of the colours and the clarity of the tone make this a wonderful instrument.
The beautiful French Polish adds helps to bring out the natural tone of the woods that can be suppressed with lacquer and PU.
